Ingredients
Scale
- 2 sheets puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
- 2 cups cooked chicken breast or thigh, shredded or finely chopped
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon cream cheese (optional for extra creaminess)
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme or parsley
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare the filling by combining the shredded chicken, mozzarella, cheddar, cream cheese, thyme, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl. Mix well.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a floured surface. Cut them into equal rectangles.
- Place the chicken mixture down the center of one rectangle, leaving about a 1-inch border on all sides.
- Brush the edges of the pastry with the egg wash (beaten egg + water).
- Lay the second puff pastry rectangle over the top and press the edges to seal.
- Cut slits on the top layer of pastry to allow steam to escape, giving it the classic jalousie look.
- Brush the entire pastry with egg wash for a glossy, golden finish.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
- Cool slightly, slice, and serve warm!
Notes
- Use rotisserie chicken for quicker prep.
- For added flavor, sprinkle Parmesan cheese or sesame seeds on top before baking.
- Make it spicy by adding chili flakes or using pepper jack cheese.
- Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven at 350°F.
